Day 4 – Using the Word Matrix

Daijon practiced blending /ah/ and /ih/ words for about 20 minutes, rough but slowly getting stronger.

But today’s video isn’t about him; instead we demonstrate the Word Matrix tool (part of SPELLING).  English spelling builds complex words from bases and a small number of affixes, for example ‘unreportable’ is built from the base ‘port’.  Reading and spelling these words is relatively simple once you see the patterns.  This video finds more ‘port’ words.

Our words are fossils that tell us stories about history, science, and social constructs.  Bases and affixes carry the meaning of a word, often in surprising ways.  The rules of connecting affixes govern how words are spelled.  Check it out.
