But that isn\u2019t much of a preparation for life.<\/p>\n<p>The research is clear \u2013 <b>there is nothing wrong with your child<\/b>.\u00a0 Almost every child becomes a strong, competent reader with proper instruction.\u00a0 But it\u00a0 gets harder with each passing year. We run pop-up schools and clinics where volunteers teach failed readers using proper techniques.<\/p>\n<p>We follow \u2018intensive\u2019 protocols from two well-known interventions <a href=\"http:\/\/ldx.sagepub.com\/content\/34\/1\/33.abstract\">Torgesen et al. (2001)<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/ldx.sagepub.com\/content\/39\/5\/447.short\">Denton et al. (2006)<\/a>. They show that intensive phonics-based intervention completely cures \u2018reading disability\u2019 in almost all students.
